Today, the Inamori Foundation announced an establishment of the new grants program: “Inamori Research Institute for Science (InaRIS) Fellowship Program” in the press conference at Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. This program provides 10 years’ research funding, total 100 million yen, to an individual researcher of the basic science and aims to foster a culture to respect the social value of the basic science.
In the conference, InaRIS Committee Chair Shigetada Nakanishi, Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University commented “The key point of this program is to support a researcher as an individual. The next generation researchers of high aspirations can devote themselves into their research with an affluent funding. I wish them to take on a giant leap as a researcher.” InaRIS Committee member Makoto Kobayashi, Honorary Professor Emeritus, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization explained the 2020 program field: “Quantum.”
