
On March 6, 2026, the Inamori Foundation announced 60 recipients for two new courses of the Inamori Research Grants: “Incubate” and “Accelerate” . The total amount of funding granted under these courses is 200 million yen. These new courses expand the Foundation’s longstanding research grant program and are designed to provide stronger support for original and promising research in the fields of natural sciences, as well as the humanities and social sciences.
Under the “Incubate” course, 50 recipients were selected from 697 applications—40 in the natural sciences and 10 in the humanities and social sciences. Each recipient will receive two million yen in funding over a two-year grant period.
Under the “Accelerate” course, 10 recipients were selected from 225 applications—eight in the natural sciences and two in the humanities and social sciences. Each recipient will receive 10 million yen in funding over a three-year grant period.
Since its founding, the Inamori Foundation has offered the Inamori Research Grants in accordance with the philosophy of its founder, Kazuo Inamori. Our goal is to support innovative and excellent research activities based on intellectual curiosity with minimal restrictions, fostering talent that will contribute to the international community in the future. We aim to promote academic and cultural advancement and enhance international mutual understanding.
In 2025, two new courses, “Incubate” and “Accelerate,” were introduced under the Inamori Research Grants, establishing a multilayered and complementary support system that provides funding tailored to researchers’ respective stages and research progress.
The presentation ceremony will be held on April 18, in Kyoto. Following the ceremony, the 3S※ Meeting will take place, featuring poster presentations by 24 grant recipients.
