Ethical considerations on the nature of human fertilized eggs in the context of rapid developments in genome editing technologies
Keyword
Summary
Genome editing technology, exemplified by the emergence of CRISPR/Cas9 in 2012, has made it increasingly feasible to modify genomes across various cell types. While many practices and applications have been explored and implemented, applying this technology to human embryos requires careful consideration from ethical, legal, and social perspectives, given that embryos have the potential to develop into human beings. To address these challenges, this study will focus on domestic trends and specifically examine the social nature of human embryos from a historical perspective.

Comment

In the field of bioethics, in which I have primarily been engaged, I believe that "inter" perspectives, which encompass interdisciplinarity and internationality, play a key role. With this research initiative, I would like to prioritize the inter aspect—in other words, the crossing of boundaries.
