Novel Cyanation Reaction Catalyzed by Heterobimetallic Complexes
Keyword
Summary
Cyano groups are widely used in bioactive substances and functional materials, and are one of the functional groups that can be derived into other useful compounds including organic compounds. Therefore, the introduction of cyano groups into organic compounds has been extensively studied, but there are some points to be improved, such as the excessive use of highly toxic reaction reagents. In this study, we will use metal complex catalysts to develop novel cyanation reactions that are low in toxicity and environmentally friendly.

Comment

I am very honored and humbled to have been selected for the Inamori Foundation Research Grant. Encouraged by the support, I would like to produce research results that will give something back to society.

Outline of Research Achievments

New synthetic method for phosphine chalcogenides using phosphine and chalcogenocyanate ions in 1,2-dichloroethane has been developed. This protocol provides phosphine chalcogenides in good yields with wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. This protocol could be also applicable to the synthesis of  phosphinic acid derivatives and polymer reaction.
